Casey falls in Kuala Lumpur
Casey Dellacqua has gone down in the opening round of the BMW Malaysian Open, falling in straight sets to Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic.
Pliskova had too many weapons for Dellacqua, with the 20-year-old cruising to a 6-3 6-2 win in just over an hour.
The 127th-ranked Czech clubbed an incredible 18 aces on her way to victory, serving power that helped her claim almost 90 per cent of points behind her first delivery.
Pliskova, the 2010 Australian Open junior winner, will face Misaki Doi of Japan in the second round.
The loss continued a lean run for Dellacqua, who is yet to win a set in any of her four singles losses in 2013, all of which have come against opponents ranked outside the top 100.
