Dellacqua nominated for WTA Most Improved Player Award

Casey Dellacqua’s most successful year of her career has continued with the Australian nominated for the WTA Most Improved Player Award.

The Australian, who surged from outside the top 100 at the start of 2014 to a career high #26 in September, was nominated for the award alongside Eugenie Bouchard, Karolina Pliskova, Caroline Garcia and Coco Vandeweghe.

As a wildcard in to the Australian Open Dellacqua made the fourth round before progressing to the quarterfinals at Indian Wells, the semifinals in Birmingham, and the last 16 at the US Open.

A late-season quarterfinal appearance in Tokyo and third-round finish in Wuhan helped entrench her inside the world’s top 30.
