Dellacqua progresses at play-off
Casey Dellacqua has racked up her second win on day 2 of the Australian Open Wildcard Play-off at Melbourne Park.
Dellacqua looks set to move through to the quarters after an impressive 6-2 6-3 win over seventh-seeded Queenslander Isabella Holland.
In a match that lasted just under 80 minutes, Dellacqua used her strength to her advantage, forcing Holland to rush her strokes.
After spending most of 2009 on the sidelines with a shoulder reconstruction and then a foot injury, Dellacqua looked perfectly at home on the play-off centre court.
The West Australian relished the opportunity to belt the ball to all parts of the court as she begins the climb back into the world’s top 100.
Dellacqua’s final round-robin match will be against Ashling Sumner who upset top seed Olivia Rogowska 7-6(7) 7-5. Rogowska has now lost her first two round-robin matches and will not progress to the quarterfinals.
