Dellacqua to play Hopman Cup
Casey Dellacqua’s impressive year on tour will see the Australian represent her country at the 2015 Hopman Cup.
A three-times grand slam doubles runner-up in 2013, it has been Dellacqua’s singles rise this year that has gained the most momentum.
Currently at a career high #30 in the WTA rankings, Dellacqua has enjoyed her most successful year on tour, making the Round of 16 at the Australian Open, falling to Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard, before making the Indian Wells quarter finals. She then also enjoyed a run to the semi finals of the AEGON Classic in Birmingham, defeating fellow Australian Sam Stosur along the way.
2015 will be the second time the West Australian has played the Hopman Cup, previously partnering Lleyton Hewitt in 2009.
Dellacqua was forced to pull out from the 2013 event with injury.
“I’m really happy to be playing the Hopman Cup again. It’s a privilege to go out and play for your country,” Dellacqua said.
“To play in front of my home crowd in Perth is a bonus.
“I’ve heard lots of great things about the Perth Arena.
“I was really disappointed that I had to withdraw from the 2013 Hopman Cup with injury, so it will be good to get out there and play for the first time.
“I’ve had a good year so far and I’m motivated to keep working hard and to perform well.”
Dellacqua will be partnered by rising star Nick Kyrgios, who stunned the tennis world with a win over world #1 Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon earlier this year.
“Nick had a fantastic result at Wimbledon and definitely has some flair. I’m sure we will have great fun in the mixed doubles,” Dellacqua said.
